Taiwan rests above the collision zone between the Yangtze Plate and the Philippine Sea Plate. Eastern and Southern Taiwan is the northern end of the Philippine Mobile Belt. This unique geographical location allows Taiwan to have a great variety of springs, including hot springs, cold springs, mud springs, and seabed hot springs, making Taiwan one of the world’s top 15 destinations for hot springs.
台灣位於西太平洋菲律賓海板塊與歐亞大陸板塊的碰撞帶上，因此讓台灣蘊藏著豐富的地熱資源，也因為如此台灣才能依據泉水的水溫高低將其分類為熱泉、溫泉、冷泉、泥泉等，使台灣成為世界排名前15名知名的溫泉之一。
Among more than one hundred hot springs that could be found in Taiwan, the Guanziling Hot Spring, Suao Cold Spring, Beitou Hot Spring and Jhihben Hot Spring are the ones most people like to visit.
其中台灣各地的溫泉湧泉處約有100多處，而其中關子嶺溫泉、蘇澳冷泉、北投溫泉、知本溫泉都是大多數人喜歡去的地方。
The Guanziling Hot Spring is a mud spring with fascinating cloudy colored water. It is rich with minerals and chemicals that can only be found in Taiwan. The Suao Cold Spring in Yilan is one of the two cold springs in the world along with the cold spring in Venice. The Beitou Hot Spring in Taipei City is one of the most popular hot springs in northern Taiwan just for its convenient location.One may simply visit Beitou Hot Spring through a short MRT ride to the Xinbeitou Station in Taipei. The Jhihben Hot Spring in Taitung features alkali carbonate springs with clear and odorless water with a temperature ranging from 45 to 56 degrees Celsius surrounded by fascinating untouched natural marvels.
關子嶺溫泉水質非常特殊，呈灰黑色，夾帶地下岩層泥質與礦物質，因此泉水呈現灰黑色，有『黑色溫泉』或『泥巴溫泉』之稱，也是全球稀有的泥漿溫泉；蘇澳冷泉是另一個除義大利威尼斯外有冷泉的國家；北投溫泉位於台北市北投區也是北部最熱門的溫泉之一，此外，這也是只需搭乘MRT且交通最方便的可到達的地方，知本溫泉水質屬鹼性碳酸泉約45到56攝氏，水質極優外，四周自然的景觀山林環境。
